As part of the South Pars Gas Field Development – Phase 19, located south of Iran near Kangan Port, Petropars Iran (PPI) initiated the construction of an advanced seawater intake system to supply cooling water to the onshore processing facilities.

  • Intake Pipelines:
    Seawater is conveyed through two 2.0-meter-diameter HDPE pipelines, each approximately 1,200 meters in length, providing a continuous and reliable supply of clean seawater to the onshore intake basin.
  • Outfall Pipeline:
    Heated discharge water is safely returned to the sea via a 2.0-meter-diameter, 160-meter-long HDPE outfall pipeline, ensuring thermal dispersion and environmental balance.
  • Environmental Protection Measures:
    Advanced filtration and screening systems prevent the intake of marine organisms and suspended particles, ensuring that only clean seawater is drawn from the seabed while safeguarding the marine ecosystem.

Delta Offshore Technology applied advanced engineering methodologies to enhance system efficiency, integrity, and installation performance:

  • Grout-Injected Ballasting System
    Grout-Injected Ballasting System
    • Grout was injected into core-tube pipes within the HDPE pipelines to achieve uniformly distributed ballast weight.
    • This approach significantly reduced hydrodynamic drag and minimized installation pulling forces compared to conventional external ballast systems, thereby preserving pipeline structural integrity.
  • Float-and-Sink Installation Method
    The HDPE pipelines were fabricated onshore, floated to the offshore installation site, and precisely positioned using a controlled float-and-sink technique.
  • Trenching and Backfilling
    Pipelines were installed within pre-excavated subsea trenches and backfilled to protect against external hazards such as anchor drag, seabed movement, and mechanical impact.
